April Volunteer Gardening
It’s Spring, and the bindweed is back! So let’s get to work! Please – come and join Catherine and Marietta for our April session in the Flower Garden . They’ll be there on Sunday, April 12th , from noon until 4pm . You can stay as long – or as short – as you like. Tools and gardening gloves will be provided – and a cup of tea or coffee! No gardening skills required. All are welcome , but children must be accompanied by an adult.

A Chartist History Walk
On Saturday, April 11th , Marietta from the Friends will lead a free history walk in the park, remembering the 1848 Monster Chartist Rally on Kennington Common . Meet outside Prince Consort Lodge (Trees for Cities) at 2.30pm .

Bat Hunt!
Our first Bat Hunt of 2026! Coming up on Friday, April 10th . Meet at the History Hut in the park at 8pm . Dr Iain Boulton will lead our Spring Bat Hunt … hopefully, the pipistrelle bats will now be out of hibernation. Iain will tell us all about these amazing creatures, and he’ll bring sonic bat detectors to share. This is a free event, but please – if you want to take part, support the Friends of Kennington Park . It’s just £6 per person for a year, or £10 for a household.

Kenny is saved!
We are delighted that Lambeth Council have responded so positively to our campaign to Save Kenny . Their planned budget for 2026/27 includes money for the required restoration work. There is a lot to do before work will start on the bowl and we are looking forward to seeing how the project develops over the next 2-3 months. An updated project plan and financial protocols will be put in place, a new contract tendering exercise will be required and further surveys are like

Volunteer gardeners are go!
Here's a photo of some of our happy volunteer gardeners from yesterday's session in the Flower Garden. Thank you to Hanna and Maria, Arthur, Michael and Diana for coming out to help. And to Ruth and Marietta for organising and running the session. It's the Big Birdwatch next Sunday!

Final 2025 gardening session this Sunday
This Sunday, December 14th , will be the last volunteer gardening session for 2025. Monthly sessions will start again in February. Kennington Park nature trail – a fresh look at a familiar Place

Save Kenny – Calling all skateboarders and fans of Kennington Park
Kennington Park’s legendary 1970s skatebowl – known as Kenny – is under threat. After years of planning and hard work, Lambeth Council is now considering pulling the funding that was allocated to restore it. This isn’t just about skateboarding.
