Kennington Park’s legendary 1970s skatebowl – known as Kenny – is under threat. After years of planning and hard work, Lambeth Council is now considering pulling the funding that was allocated to restore it.
This isn’t just about skateboarding. The project would bring a much-loved community space back to life – restoring the historic bowl, adding safe spectator areas and ramped access, and opening up the overgrown surroundings so the bowl is part of the park again.

Friends of Kennington Park (FoKP) even reallocated funds from other projects to make sure this restoration could happen. Everything was ready to go earlier this year.
If the Council withdraws support now, the opportunity will likely be lost forever. Public money already invested will have been wasted. The bowl will be left to rot as a dangerous eyesore. And removing it altogether would cost even more – leaving only a barren patch of concrete where a unique piece of skate history once stood.

We cannot let this happen!
There are meetings coming up in October and November where a decision will be made at the Lambeth Council...so we don't have long. If we act now, Kenny can be restored as one of the UK’s first and most iconic skate bowls – a safe, vibrant space for skaters, families, and the wider community for generations to come.
Lambeth Council had the money for the work, but are now considering withdrawing the funding from this important project. We are the Friends of Kennington Park (FoKP). We want to stop that happening.
Help us bring Kenny back into full use!

How you can help...
We want to let Lambeth Council know what you think about the skatebowl. Please help us by:
1. Signing the petition to save the skatebowl here - please keep sharing our petition as we need as many signatures to persuade Lambeth to change their minds and not kill Kenny off.
2. Contact us directly with any thoughts, ideas or support you can offer to help save Kenny friends@kenningtonpark.org
