Saturday, October 12th, 2024 – 2-4pm
Our first ever Kennington Park Dog Shows is finally going ahead!
Supported by The Hound Hut and Paws & Pause this event was originally scheduled to take place in September 2022, but had to be cancelled after the death of the queen. Well, it’s back, and happening, on Saturday, October 12th!
Location: Kennington Park North Field, in front of the new dog area. Close to the War Memorial entrance / entrance closest to Kennington Tube Station.
Registration for the dog show is from 12.30pm to 13:45pm. Activities (games, quizzes, free face painting and make your own snuffle mat) will start from 12:30pm and run throughout the event.
From 12:30 the Hound Hut will be offering free pre show fluff-ups for the four-legged, and talk anything grooming. Paws and Pause will show you what doggy daycare looks like and bring some enrichment equipment for your pups to try out.
The dog show itself kicks off at 2pm, and should finish around 4pm.
The categories you can sign up for are as follows, with estimated start times:
1. Best Dressed Up dog (2.10pm)
2. Adorable puppy (up to 1 yr): agility course round with a chance to show best trick (2:25pm)
3. Bouncy Teen (1-3 yrs): agility course round with a chance to show best trick (2.40pm)
4. Confident Adult (3-8 yrs): agility course round with a chance to show best trick (2.55pm)
5. Golden Oldie (8yrs+): agility course round with a chance to show best trick (3.10pm)
6. Remarkable Rescue: tell a story, show a trick- it’s up to you! (3.25pm)
7. Dog looking most like its owner (3.40pm)
8. Best in Show (3.55pm)
There will be a lovely cupcake stall on site, but no other refreshments. We recommend BYO or the beautiful Collective Café for coffee and snacks.
Volunteers!
We need some volunteer support for this event! Volunteer support opportunities are:
- 11am-12:30 for setup (gazebos, agility course, tables and chairs)
- 12:30-4pm for activities support
- 4-5pm for breakdown of event
